the website of TOI can be granted all the characteristics of a portfolio. Its content and purpose are quite clear and definite and its user normally belongs to a specific target group (TUDelft architecture participants). Although quite straightforward as a structure, the website gives out a lot of information and demands the interaction of the user. The user gets the feeling he/she is expected to know the function and content of the website in advance.
The environment is academic, aiming to inform and guide and not to impress or excite.
You mention at least two good points:
ReplyDelete> User: Students
> Environment: Academic
About the users. You can again divide this user group (students) into sub groups:
> Students looking for interesting courses to enroll for.
> Students following a regular course who want information about the ongoing courses.
> Students who are looking for tutorials (toi-pedia).
Who else do you think uses the website?
Tou point out the structure is straight forward. Do you main the structure of the elements (so layout) or the navigation structure? Do you perceive it as a linear structure?
